KANE, Christopher James

November 25, 2018 – Okotoks, Alberta

Christopher Kane passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at the age of 74 years.

Chris was born in Dublin, the oldest of thirteen children. He moved to Calgary in 1969 and was a painter by trade. He loved his grandchildren and was a long-time active member of the Irish Cultural Society in Calgary. He was passionate about theatre and was involved in producing, directing or acting in plays, right up to his passing. Many will miss his stories and unique zest for life.

Chris is survived by son Mark Kane (Liz) of Dewinton, daughters Arlene Ridgeway of Okotoks, Andrea Mathieu (Mike) of Strathmore, son Chris Kane (Chauntelle) of Grande Prairie, grandchildren Rachel (Kieran), Keegan, Ciera (Raya), Jordan, Zoey of Calgary, Khalia, Drayden and Brynn-Lee of Grand Prairie, siblings Angela, Mary, Margaret, Francis, Joseph of Dublin, Elizabeth of Edmonton and Deidre of Calgary.

Chris was predeceased by his wife Mary (nee Lanigan), his parents, Christine and Christopher, siblings Joan, Mark, James, Patrick and Katherine.

Funeral Services will be held at Irish Cultural Society (6452 35 Ave NW, Calgary, AB T3B 1S6) on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 1:00p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

    Our condolences to the Kane family … Chris painted our first home and I always enjoyed his sense of humour . He enjoyed the evenings at the ICS helping out and I think it made him feel close to his people… It will be a sad day when we won’t see him at the ICS.
