JONASSON, John (Jack) Charles

John (Jack) Charles Jonasson, 87, of Calgary. Our loving father, grandfather, friend, and companion passed away peacefully at Rocky View Hospital on Tuesday, October 24th, 2017, with his loved ones at his bedside.

Born in Edmonton, AB, on September 8, 1930. He was the only child to Samuel and Mary Jonasson. He grew up in Wilkie, SK, where he first joined the Royal Bank of Canada. After 35 years of service, he retired in Calgary in 1985. Jack enjoyed playing and watching golf, summers in the Okanagan, winters in Mesa, AZ, day trips to Kananaskis, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Jack is survived by Edna Jonasson (nee MacDonald) of Calgary and their children: son and daughter-in-law Jack and Denise of Calgary, son Jamie of Vancouver, daughter and son-in-law Janice and Jeff Eiring of Broomfield, CO; grandchildren Joshua and Carly of Calgary, AB, and Kaitlyn and Kyleigh of Broomfield, CO; companion Donna Voysey of Calgary, AB, and her family, Penny (Marshall) MacLean of Beiseker, their children Kelsey and Jared; Billie-Jo (Len) Patkau of Calgary and their son Cole Mercier.

He was preceded by his parents, Samuel and Mary Jonasson, step-mother Thelma Jonasson; several aunts and uncles, and grandson Kyle.

As requested by Jack, there will not be a formal funeral service.
