Laura Johnston (nee McHarg) of Calgary, AB passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the age of 85 years.

Laura was born to parents Albert and Hannah McHarg on December 24, 1930. She grew up on the family farm near Quill Lake, SK with her four brothers; Alan, Wilbert, Buster, and Keith and her four sisters; Mary, Eileen, Orla and Laverne. Laura moved to Calgary in 1951 with her husband, Arnold William Johnston , where she worked for 27 years for Revelstoke.

Laura is survived by her son Arnold (A.J.) Johnston, her daughter Verda Johnston, her granddaughter Chelley Hurst, her adopted granddaughter Jo-Anne Erath, her great-grandson John Hurst; her brothers Alan, Wilbert and Keith (Jean) McHarg and numerous nieces and nephews. Laura was predeceased by her husband Arnold (Jim) Johnston in 1990.

A Celebration of Laura’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) Friday, May 20, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. As this is a Celebration of Laura’s Life, the family requests that you dress casually and in Laura’s favorite colors red and/or pink (if possible).
