JEAM, Brenda Gladys

March 25, 1942 – Taiping, Malaysia
January 25, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Brenda Jeam, a loving and determined mother, grandmother and sister passed away on Friday, January 25, 2018 at age 76.

Brenda retired from nursing after 45 years where she lived and worked in Sydney, Australia, London, England, Montreal and Toronto, Canada. Brenda Jeam was an adventurous traveller. She explored as much of the globe as possible with her family and friends. She loved taking photos – almost as much as she loved posing for them. After living in Toronto for 40+ years, she bravely moved to Calgary to be with her daughter’s family. Brenda never stopped moving, never sat still. She loved ballroom dancing, Zumba, and swimming. She was a force of nature that made herself known by walking around everywhere; most recently in her new home of Garrison Woods. A dedicated volunteer, Brenda was generous with her time and well regarded as a kind person always willing to roll up her sleeves to help others.

Brenda is survived by her only child, Carmen Jeam and her husband Jim Robinson; her grandchildren, Michael Jeam and Laura Jeam; her twin sister Kum Kwai Ho Kong and brother-in-law K.O. Kong of Montreal; her brother Dr. Wai Cheong Ho and sister-in-law May; sister Ms. Kum Leng Ho of Ipoh, Malaysia; brother Mr. Sek Cheong Ho of London, UK and sister Ooi Khuan Bhullar and husband Mohan of Canberra, Australia.

Brenda was predeceased by her husband Karl Kar Son Jeam, brother, Dr. Check Cheong Ho and half sister Gloria Kam Yung Ho.

A service will be held at a later date in Toronto in 2019. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 200, 119 – 14th Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6 Telephone: (403) 264-5549, Condolences may be forwarded through McInnis & Holloway Park Memorial.

Being Brenda’s friend, truly enriched my life. I was so blessed to meet her, after she moved to Calgary from Toronto. Bren was a very cherished friend. I enjoyed every minute with her, that we had together. She was kind and loving and we had so much fun! We went everywhere and she appreciated getting out. I admired the love and dedication she had for her family. My husband also thought the world of Brenda and didn’t hesitate to help her whenever she asked. It won’t be the same without her and I will miss her terribly. I am already. Rest In Peace dear Brenda! You will never, ever be forgotten. Love Marg

  6. Dear Carmen and Jim,
Again so sorry for the loss of Brenda. Didn’t meet her very much but had only heard the stories over the years of the practical, no non-sense, let’s get stuff done attitude so we can move on. I know that the daughter does not fall far from the tree. Inspiration to us to pick up our passports and travel on.
    Hugs to you all.
