JAYCOCK, Ada Jean (nee Clarke)

October 23, 1926 – Bishop’s Stortford, England
December 22, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean on December 22 at the age of 92 years; our mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Mum was born in England on October 23, 1926 and immigrated to Canada in 1946, settling originally in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. She trained as a Nursing Aid and worked in Grande Prairie and at the Baker Central Alberta TB Sanatorium in Calgary. Jean met her future husband Ted, at the Baptist Leadership Training School and married him in 1955. She raised three children while remaining active in church activities.

Mum will be lovingly remembered by her children, Cal (Shannon), Rob (Rocio), Bonnie; grandchildren, Cheryl, Katherine (Thomas), and Brenna; and great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jacob, and Brooklynn. She will also be lovingly missed by her brother Bill (Jessie) Clarke, and numerous nephews, nieces and her many wonderful friends.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Ted (1989), and her sister Margaret Brady (2016).

A private family internment will be held at Queen’s Park Cemetery on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Mum’s life at Northmount Baptist Church (451 Northmount Drive NW, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Church.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes can be made directly to the Canadian Red Cross Society, Southern Alberta Region, (2nd Floor, 1305 – 11st Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB T3C 3P6, Telephone: (403) 541-6100, www.redcross.ca) in recognition of her long-time volunteer service there, where she put her talents as a knitter to work, knitting and assembling hundreds of blankets.

In living memory of Jean Jaycock, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, CALGARY, AB, T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
