Leslie Hughes, beloved husband of Marjorie Hughes of sixty years, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the age of 88 years.

Leslie was born and raised in Lexington, Mississippi to parents Katie Sue and Clifton, on December 25, 1929. Leslie joined the US army and spent his tour stationed in various countries such as the Philippines. After honorable discharge, Les moved to Canada, where he met and married the love of his life, Marjorie.

Leslie’s work ethic and dedication to all aspects of his life led him to a very successful career in oil and gas. He was a lifetime member of APEGA (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists), and his diligence within his profession earned him Management status with several reputable companies in the industry. Les was well-liked and respected by all those who knew him.

Les always understood and maintained balance in life. He enjoyed spending time amongst family, as well as golfing and gardening. He was a long-time member of the Perfection Lodge.

Leslie was the definition of a Southern Gentleman. Modest, humble and caring, he was a true family man, and was deeply loved by all.

Besides his loving wife Marjorie, Leslie will be greatly missed by his children, Joanne (Ken), Rob (Kathy) and Robyn (Marc); grandchildren, Manda (Phil) James, John (Pam) Debra, Monique, Rachelle, Jennelle, Alyssa, Kathleen, Ali, and Thomas; great-grandchildren, Nikki, Jesse, Erin, Dylan, Maia, Kate and Anna; great-great-grandchildren Kade and Noah; sister-in-law Iris Eggen and family, Kim (Mark) and Bruce; and extended family members, Tracy, Laurie, Tim, Rod, and Jim. He was predeceased by his parents and relatives in Mississippi, and brothers-in-law, Ron (Wanda) and Bruce.

A Celebration of Leslie’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE Calgary, AB) on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through
