December 1, 1938 – Banff, Alberta
July 10, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness we announce that Donna Lorraine Hubman passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 in Calgary, AB at the age of 80.

Donna was born in Banff, Alberta on December 1, 1938 to William and Violet Loder (nee Court) and as an infant spent time with her family in and around the Exshaw and the Bow River Valley area. Donna was the oldest of three children, 1 brother (William) and 1 sister (Marney). Donna, as a young woman moved to the big city, Calgary, and attended Henderson Business College. Donna loved being a full-time mother devoted to her four children; Jeff, Joni, Dean, and Sheri. She was always interested in what they were doing and took great pride in their accomplishments. Donna’s second home was her cabin in Invermere, BC. In the early days she spent many hours helping to build the cabin, skiing, hiking and then later enjoying the fruits of her labour with family and friends near the lake. Over the past years you could find Donna in the summer and on week-ends tending to her gardens, flowers and just enjoying time with her family relaxing. She couldn’t wait to get out of her vehicle after the 3 hour drive to investigate how her gorgeous flowers sprouted since the last time she was there.

Donna was a sports enthusiast who spent time both playing and watching curling, cheering on Team Canada in the Olympics and her beloved Stampeders. She was always ready to cheer on the grand kids in various activities. Donna had a huge green thumb. She worked many years at the Golden Gate Garden Centre in South Calgary as their buyer and “go to” expert in the greenhouse and perennial lot. Customers, friends and family could always count on Donna to provide knowledgeable advice on how to grow anything. Customers would seek her out year after year. Her advice was trusted and true. Donna loved her grandchildren and always had time to share with them either watching them play a sport, enjoying a movie or just having a conversation. It was in her later years when retired she turned her focus to helping raise her newest grand kids. She delighted in the recent news she was going to become a great grandmother.

Donna will be missed by her brother and sister, sons and daughters and grandchildren: William (Sally), sister Marney (Cliff), Jeff (Carolyn), Joni (Brian) and sons Brandon, Devon and Jared, Sheri (Cory) and their children Zak and Violet, Dean (Kristen). Donna will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews in the Hubman and Court families.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE [1], Calgary, AB) on Monday, July 15, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com
