    Poem for our dearest Marlene:

    funeral wind
    I wonder how heavy
    our hearts are

I will always remember Marlene for her infectious laugh, her quirky but marvelous sense of humor and her constant expression of loving kindness towards every human / sentient being who ever came into her life.

She will always be especially remembered, honored and loved for her incredible kindness in both looking after my extremely handicapped mum, when Wendy and I spent the last four days of my dad’s life with him in the Tom Baker Center, when he was dying of a devastating and untreatable form of leukemia (AML), coming to the hospital to bring us coffee, refreshments and meals for physical sustenance and, most importantly, she brought us love, kindness and tenderness, for our spiritual and emotional sustenance, at a time when my heart was shattering into a thousand sharp pieces. Until my mum died on 4 June 2017, she spoke every day about Marlene’s unbelievable kindness and tenderness towards her: mum described Marlene as a bodhisatva and, of course, as always, she was right.

Marlene was a truly incredible human being, the sort of person who only comes along once in a lifetime. Everybody who was fortunate enough to have had Marelene be some part of their lives, no matter how great or small that part might have been, was indelibly altered and, in so many incredible ways, made permanently better.

The world will never be the same again, without this wonderful human being we called Marlene. I miss her terribly and I always will. But I also know that she will forever live on in our hearts and that she is with us, always and for all things.

I picture our beautiful Marlene sitting on that special beach in Maui, talking and laughing with my parents, listening to IZ ……. and they are all just somewhere, over the rainbow ……….

    Love Always
    From Carol

  15. My condolences to Marlene’s family. I am just now hearing the sad news. I had the pleasure of working with Marlene at Calm Air in Churchill and Thompson, and the greater pleasure of being her friend. She was one of the kindest and most generous people that I have met, and her laugh was always genuine and persistent. Marlene will be missed by many, and I hope she is back working is Reservations, because I will need her help again some day.
