HOWELL, John “Jack” Nigh

February 25, 1926 – St. John’s, Newfoundland
July 25, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Jack Howell of Calgary, Alberta, beloved husband of Bobbie, formerly of St. John’s, Newfoundland, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the age of 93. Jack and Bobbie were married for sixty-six years.

A generous, warm, loving and cherished family man, Jack treasured his wife, their three daughters Bonnie, Linda and Brenda, their four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Jack was a Warrant Officer of the Canadian Army and served Canada as a UN Peacekeeper in Egypt and Cyprus as well as two overseas tours in Continental Europe. Upon his retirement from the military he began a career in Canadian banking.

He enjoyed camping in Alberta, wintering in Arizona and was adept in bowling, shuffleboard and playing cards – especially crib, Rummoli and Saskatchewan Rummy.

Admired as an ethical man of integrity and compassion, he will be missed, but remembered lovingly.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Dana Village (1818 Simcoe Boulevard SW, Calgary, AB,) on Friday, August 9, 2019 from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
