HOWDEN, Bruce Thomas

April 15, 1946 – Calgary, Alberta
May 24, 2019 – Delburne, Alberta

It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, Bruce Howden on Friday, May 24, 2019 at the age of 73 years.

Bruce was born into a third generation, hard working, farming family at Kersey, Alberta to Thomas and Evelyn Howden. He never disappointed-being hardworking at everything he did, work or play, every single day of his life. He loved all sports, especially baseball, and played for Irricana as a kid through to his later years, also taking on coaching of his son, Danny’s teams. Those ‘kids’, grown men now, still hold him with such true admiration and great memories! Bruce loved to joke and tease even though he took life seriously. He reveled at the beauty of nature and the simple things in life and shared these treasures with his beautiful grandchildren and special friends.

He leaves behind to grieve his wife of 48 years, Cheryl; his children, Darren, Tammy (Jimmy), and Danny (Amanda); grandchildren, Kaitlin (Devan), Seth, Madeline, Macklin, Lachlan, Avery, Jade (Kyle), and Cooper. His sisters Beverly (Ron), and Jean (Larry) ; nephews and nieces, Mike (Faye), Wendy(Brad), Stephen (Michelle), Derek, and Mike (Shawna); and good friends Jerry (Maureen), and Ron (Vi).

Bruce was a man held in high regard and was respected by all who met him. His many, many friends outpouring of grief attest to this. He will be sorely missed by all as we remember the many great gifts he contributed to each and every heart he touched. We apologize, however, as per Bruce’s wishes, there will be no services. Condolences may be forwarded through

In living memory of Bruce Howden, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Airdrie, 300 TOWERLANE DRIVE, AIRDRIE, AB. Telephone: 403-948-1100.
