HILL, Angela

September 1, 1933 – near Dana, Saskatchewan
May 5, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

With profound sadness, the family of Angela Hill announce the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Sunday, May 5, 2019.

Angela is survived by her daughter, Linda Pauling (Greg); her son Alan Hill (Lori); her four adoring grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Brett Hill, and Bess and Maddie Pauling; and by her great-granddaughter, Noa Carmen. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Leora Callele, and her brother-in-law, Edward Boyer, as well as many loved nieces and nephews and their families. Angela will also be greatly missed by her friends and colleagues of many years, and by the caring staff at Riverstone where she lived for over thirty-five years.

She was predeceased by her parents, Petronella (nee Sobush) and Frank Callele, and all of her eight siblings; Sue (Tony) Andre, Mary (Norman) Harris, Helen (Lance) Hudson, Kelly (Catherine) Callele, Rose (Leonard) Lewis, Frances (Mike) Wandzura, John Callele and Pauline Boyer, as well as by her nephew, Kim Wandzura.

Born near Dana, Saskatchewan on September 1, 1933, Angela was raised on the family homestead by her father and older siblings after her mother’s death when she was three years old. She loved school, where her father drove her in the winter in a horse-drawn caboose heated by a pot-bellied stove. In her late teens she moved to Whitehorse where she volunteered as a disc jockey. After brief stints in Edmonton and Regina as an army wife, she settled in Calgary. There she worked hard to raise her two children on her own with great support from her sisters and brothers. She was employed as a bookkeeper at EECOL Electric and later became general manager of C.J. Coons Electric. In 1981, she and her son, Alan, co-founded Springfield Electric Ltd., an electrical contracting company where she worked until retiring from the day-to-day business at age seventy-four. In her last years, Angela lived at the Edgemont seniors’ home where she embraced her new life and made many dear friends among both residents and the extraordinarily caring staff. Angela faced multiple challenges in life, business, and with her health, but met them all with great resilience and cheerfulness. See you on the other side, Mom.

At Angela’s request, there will be no formal funeral service. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre (https://www.albertacancer.ca/donate/cancer-centres). Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
