  5. Katie Bakken, Friends of Fish Creek Provincial Park Society :

Bill loved Fish Creek and was a constant at many of our outdoor volunteer opportunities over the years. Always ready to go, wearing work wear and even bringing his own favourite shovel to get the work done. He was always eager to learn and try new things, and happily accepted when new opportunities came his way.

Whether he was moving and setting up equipment, pulling weeds, working at the charity Casino, picking up litter, wrapping trees or building new trails, Bill was always there and happily worked alongside anyone, from young to young-at-heart.

The Friends of Fish Creek are grateful to have had Bill in our midst – such a kind and gentle man, always ready to lend a hand.

  7. I was so saddened to hear of Bill’s passing. I got to know Bill through volunteering with the Friends of Fish Creek and the Bow Valley Ranch Native Gardens ( he loved his muffins when we had a coffee break). My last memory of Bill is from a visit to see him just before Christmas. He was in good spirits and when we left, he was singing Christmas carols with others from his unit.
My sincerest sympathy to you Denise and just know that your father was so appreciative of your care and support.
He was a lovely gentleman and will be missed by those who knew him.

  8. It was a pleasure and a privilege to know Bill. I knew Bill from working with him for many years through his volunteer work with Friends of Fish Creek and the Ranche gardens and from meeting for the occasional cup of coffee at Tims. I was with Bev at our Christmas visit which I will now cherish even more. I will remember him singing those Christmas carols as we left. Bill was a hard worker and involved in so many aspects of his volunteer work, always willing to do what was needed.
He was a gentle man and a good man. I will miss him.
My sincerest sympathy to you, Denise, in the loss of your dad.
