HADDAD, Diban Joseph

September 6, 1938 – Kalet Jandel, Syria
June 26, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Diban Haddad, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the age of 79 years.

Diban was a hard working man. He believed that everyone should be devoted to making each day count. He was the best storyteller and had an amazing memory. He was a Master Electrician by trade. He also had his welding and mechanic tickets. Diban moved from Syria to Canada in 1973. His family joined him in Calgary five years later. Diban never went anywhere without his beloved wife, they travelled to BC often. They loved to spend time in Kelowna, BC. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and working on cars.

Diban will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Zahia (Saman); and their five children, Anwar (Debbie) and son Sam, Mary and her three children, John (Heather), Emil (Shelini), and Andrew, Violet and her two children, Sarah and Jacob, Akram, Fares (Rana) and their three children, Stephanie, Joseph, and Hannah; a great-grandson Gabriel; his two brothers in Syria, Ayoub and Michael and their families; and many extended family and friends in Canada and Syria.

Diban was pre-deceased by his parents Joseph and Zahia; son-in-law, Souheil Alain; and a young niece in Syria, Fadia.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on Monday, July 2, 2018 AT 6:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, (404 Meredith Rd NE Suite 1, Calgary, AB), on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery . Reception to follow Grave Side Service at the church.
