GUNDRY-WHITE, Loretta “Etta” Lillian (nee Anderson)

July 27, 1922 – Camrose, Alberta
November 2, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Loretta Gundry-White of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully at the Rocky View Hospital, on November 2, 2018 at the age of 96 years.

Etta, as she was known to her friends and family, had a very rewarding career with the Bank of Montreal. She started as a Teller in the Olds branch, and retired years later as a Foreign Exchanges Trader in Calgary’s head branch. She loved curling, golfing, gardening, and photography. She was the matriarch of the family, an avid Stamps fan and supporter. She was surrounded by a very close neighborhood of friends. Anyone who knew Etta knew she was a very independent, strong-willed, and loving lady. She will be missed dearly by all.

Loretta is survived by her sisters, Genevieve Jones of San Diego, CA, Patricia “Pat” Schuh (Jack) of Calgary, AB, Mary Shultz (Jens) of Honolulu, HI; sisters-in-law, Marion Anderson of Edmonton, AB and Elaine Gundry-White of Calgary, AB; step-daughter, Olga Gundry-White; grandchildren, Kevin (Nadine) and Cheryl Ann Gundry-White; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Frederick Lionel Gundry-White; loving parents, Fred and Elma Anderson; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Ellis Walker; brother, Wilford “Bus” Anderson; brother-in-law, Joe Jones; and her step-son, David Gundry-White.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church (5504 – 20th Street S.W., Calgary, AB,) on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the church. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to a local Calgary Charity of your choice.

  6. Sincerest sympathy to the family. I met both Etta and Lionel when I began a long association with BMOs BOMPA group of pensioners back in the early 1990s in Calgary. So many wonderful memories; so many good times spent with both of them. Etta was a dignified, elegant lady, so very friendly to all she met. She will be missed.
