GOULDING, Thomas (Tom) Archibald

September 1, 1927 – Killarney, Manitoba

April 13, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Tom Goulding of Calgary on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the age of 91 years.

Education was everything to Tom. He attended the University of Manitoba for seven years, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1948 and a Bachelor of Law in 1952. He started working with Chevron shortly after taking the bar in 1952 until his retirement in 1989 at 61 years of age. At the time of his retirement, he was the Government Negotiations Manager. He enjoyed his retirement years at his home in Lake Bonavista until health issues resulted in his moving to Wentworth Manor in 2014 where he made life interesting for staff and residents until his recent passing.

Tom’s outside activities and accomplishments include his membership in the Military Reserves (Major – C.A.S.R), recognized for twenty years of his service in Canadian Forces, he was a past President of Edmonton Landman’s Association, a long-time member of the Canadian Bar Association, he was an Associate Member of the Alberta Landman’s Association; as well as a member of the American Association of Petroleum Landman.

Tom is survived by his brother, John F. Goulding; his children, Scott and Melanie Goulding and their children, David (Andrea) and Kristena (Simon); Bruce and Francine Goulding and their children Spencer and Connor; Heather and Wayne Andrews and their children, Christopher (Lindsay) and Courtney; Megan and Brendan Carrigy; Cyndel, Austin, and their mother Lynda, his two great-grandchildren Theo and Alec Wong, and  his honorary son Brent and Melanie Gilliland and their children, Michael, Rachel and Emily. Tom was pre-deceased by his mother Marjorie Goulding (nee Garrioch) and his father Cleveland Goulding.

In accordance with Tom’s and the family wishes there will be a private grave-side service, with a Celebration of Life to follow later this year for family and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Shankel, and the amazing staff at Wentworth Manor for all their compassion with Dad/Grandpa over the last four years. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

In living memory of Tom Goulding, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB, T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
