GINN, Violet

GINN, Violet (nee Earl), born in Big Valley, Alberta August 19, 1918, died in Calgary September 14, 2018, just recently celebrating her 100th birthday.

Violet was busy in her life with family, farming, gardening, baking, canning and freezing, election and census work, was very involved with the Anglican church including the Vestry and ACW, was a Calgary Stampede employee many years, also a Confederation Park member.  She enjoyed the company of many long time friends, card playing, and also enjoyed many opportunities to travel even in later years.  She has been a longtime resident of Calgary since 1948.

She is survived and will be greatly missed by two daughters, Evelyn Good and Ann (Sonny) Hockey, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren (including 2 born Oct 14), many nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by husband Colie 1992, son Arthur 2002, two brothers Norman and Victor and their wives, son-in-law Norman Good, and granddaughter-in-law Suzy Christensen.

Memorial Services will be held at Holy Cross Anglican Church (2828 19 St NW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow.  Condolences may be forwarded through If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Salvation Army, 1731 29th Street SW Calgary, AB, T3C 1M6, on line at, or by phone 403-410-1112, or to Holy Cross Anglican Church. Thanks to Extendicare Hillcrest staff where Violet lived for 1 1/2 years.
