GILL, Mabel Frances

August 8, 1926 – Medicine Hat, Alberta
May 17, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Mabel “Frances” Gill beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on May 17, 2018 at the age of 91 years.

Frances was the eldest of 6 girls who grew up on a farm SE of Irvine during the depression. When Frances left home she worked for the Post Office in Tilley and then Colpitts Ranch just outside of Calgary. This is where she met Wilfried, they married in 1955. Settling in Calgary, Frances and Wilfried started their family. Eventually Frances and Wilfried with their four children relocated to Kelowna. In 1984 Frances moved back to Medicine Hat, closer to her aging parents. In 1994 she moved to Calgary where both Gayle and Brenda were nearby. For the past 3 years Frances lived at Big Hill Lodge in Cochrane.

Frances loved picnics, family gatherings big or small. She loved to garden and being outdoors. In her younger days horses, camping and anything that kept her out of the house. Later years were spent reading and doing puzzles, especially jigsaw puzzles.

Frances is survived by her sisters Ruby (Ted), Grace; her children, Ellen (Dieter), Roger (Elaine), Brenda (Larry), and Gayle (Kelly); her grandchildren, Jason, Karissa (Chris), Lauren, Hayley; great-grandson Declan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Reinhold and Eva Gill, sisters Gertrude, Gladys and Harriet. She was also predeceased by her former husband Wilfried.

Funeral Services will be held at Pattison Funeral Home (540 South Railway Street SE, Medicine Hat, AB) on Monday, May 28, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Hillside Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded throughwww.mcinnisandholloway.com. A special thanks to the caregivers at Bowcrest nursing home who made Mom’s finally days much more comfortable. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice.
