Condolence Messages

  1. I won’t say Peggy was a good friend, because we met very rarely, but she was a cousin who kept in contact, and both my wife Usha and I appreciated it. I admired her for her keen sense of duty and what was right and wrong. Her life made a difference in others. May God be with you as go through your memories of her.

  4. J.Roland Thomas :

    To the Gilbertson Family,

It is with regret that I learn of your mother’s passing so my sincere sympathies are extended to you!
I first met your parents many years ago when I became president of the Calgary Welsh Society in 1978. Both your parents were staunch fellow members and very supportive of the Society’s activities. Grandmother Evans, although she lived out of town, also maintained an active Society membership and the family three-some would often be seen at our functions.
At that time, when I had a house on 24A Street SW, I can recall your father calling on me when he, his wife and family lived close by in the area adjacent to the old Children’s Hospital.
Your mother’s untimely passing now sees the passing of a long standing Calgary/Welsh relationship and its historical significance in the city’s development!

    Sincerely,
    Roly Thomas

  5. Karen Thimm :

Marg, was one of those people you feel would live forever. She had a indomitable will. I worked for Marg when we were still “The Calgary Board of Health”. She had a great sense of right from wrong, and always stood by her friends. To me Marg was a women of passion and believed wholeheartedly in public health. The world is a little darker without her. I feel for the loss Marg’s family must be feeling.
I am currently out of the country, otherwise I would be there for Marg’s celebration.

  6. Marg was a mentor and offered encouragement when I was not sure public health was right for me in my career. She allowed her staff to be creative in community engagement and supported some of our more peculiar ideas (like taking influenza vaccine to the community instead of waiting for them to come to us). I appreciated her commitment to public health and to her family . Both were very important to her.

  7. Benjamin Rees :

Like our mutual cousin, Emrys Rees, who already left his condolences, I can’t say I knew Peggy well, since we lived half a globe apart and only met occasionally, but I, along with my wife and kids, stayed with her and Brent on several occasions when we were passing through the area and we appreciated their hospitality. I am also grateful for all the family tree information she shared over the years, since I grew up away from most of my relatives and missed out on that family sharing. I am thankful that we were able to visit last fall and had a good time with her and a few other relatives then. She will definitely be missed.

My sincere condolences to Marg’s family at this very sad time. I have fond memories of working for Marg as a Public Health Nurse at Haysboro for 10 years. We also corresponded over the years and I shall miss her. My thoughts are with you.
