Rhonda I cannot believe I will not see your smiling face nor hear you musical laughter ever again. I met Rhonda through her stained glass business. She was kind patient and wildly talented and also so giving with her stained glass donations for charities. She was the kind of person who you could run into years down the road and you could just pick up where you left off. She was kind in spirit and always asked about my children and shared with me her pride and adventures with her nieces and nephew. I shall miss you Rhonda for so many reasons, I admire that you just went for it and you shared so much of your talent, time, and stories with me. Sleep easy my friend. xo I will not as I will be missing you.

I first met Rhonda Gee when my wife & I were transferred to Calgary from Chicago. We became friends because of her sense of humor and her patience in teaching me Canadian English. After she left Novacor and became a stained glass artist, and that’s how I would label her, we would discuss stained glass because I had done some simple window hangings although nothing compared to the work she was doing. After early retirement back to the states, we would return to Calgary every few years to see old friends including Rhonda and get our mountain fix. We stayed in contact via e-mail because that’s what friends do. Rhonda, we miss you and will never forget you.

  7. Lorelea and Gregory Murphy :

I met Rhonda in September of 1967 – in Grade 7. It was a difficult transition for me, being in a new school, and as I sat at my desk one morning, feeling so alone, this wonderful creature in front of me turned around, and with a beautiful smile, said, “Hi, My name is Rhonda!” That treasured moment was the beginning of a 51-year friendship, which withstood the passage of time. We graduated High School together, we graduated SAIT together, she was a Bridesmaid at our wedding, and largely due to Rhonda’s hard work and dedication, we had the joy of attending a 10-year High School Reunion at Queen Elizabeth. Our friendship continued throughout the years – yes, decades – and neither time nor circumstance ever took away from the genuine love which Rhonda always lavished. A visit with Rhonda in her oh-so-unique and personalized home, was always to be anticipated – we never came away without having even more memories to add to our growing collection. Our home has a valued selection of her stunning stained glass artwork, hanging in windows, as well as an awesome door. Rhonda’s smile was a beautiful window into her soul, and everyone who knew Rhonda was the better for having her as a part of their lives. She treasured her friends from her youth – I know, because she talked about each one of you with genuine warmth. The love she had for her family was an example to everyone, and as a daughter, a sister, a sister-in-law and an aunt, she excelled. There is a hole in our hearts today, and it is in the shape of Rhonda. I will always keep that treasured space in my soul, full of the wonder of my friend – truly, a friend to all – Rhonda Diane Gee. The last time I saw Rhonda, 4 weeks before her passing, she said to me, “Well, Lore – it’s a long ways from Grade 7, eh?” And she smiled. I miss you so much, my dear friend. Thank you for the gift of you.

I wish to send my most heartfelt condolences to my cousin Margaret, her husband Frank, Kali and Conner and to include all of Rhonda’s family and friends. I did not know Rhonda as a close friend, but in the few times we had chance to meet and chat at family gatherings, her sincerity, warmth and kindness shone out. She expressed the most amazing creative talent in her work. For that alone, I am sure multitudes including myself will mourn her loss to the art world and as a positive light. I wish her a restful sleep after a difficult journey.

Rhonda and I became friends in Grade 9. Although I can’t recall the moment, I remember well that our friendship started with long walks along the Bow river; and, a walk along the Bow together in early July was the second last time we met.
She remained a steadfast friend for almost 50 years; and, more than that for others. I love Rhonda and she will be dearly missed by me and all of her friends.

In my high school and university days I spent countless nights at the Gee home. Dinners on Mondays became standard, as did watching the sitcoms afterward. Rhonda and her family became my extended family. My boys are now friends with the family too. Rhonda and I often spoke about how glad we were to see the “kids” become friends. The story continues…

More than anything else, Rhonda loves her family. She knows how much you all love her too. To give and receive such great love made her life wonderful.

I am thankful to have had such a friend.

We lost a good one. Rhonda was an amazing friend and leaves a wonderful legacy of memories and artist work. She always spoke lovingly of Laura and Frank and their families and her aunts. Her stained glass is a lasting reminder of her creativity and artistic ability. I can’t listen to PJ Perry’s music without thinking of her. I will remember her smile and generosity. I am very sad but the world is a better place because Rhonda was here.

I had the great honor and pleasure of working with Rhonda at the Alberta Perinatal Health Program where she worked to support our Education Team. Rhonda provided true sunshine in my work day – although she worked in Calgary and I work in Edmonton. She was like that; her presence could transcend distance. She worked tirelessly to keep us all organized and on track with a sense of ease that I know was not always easy. Her professionalism was second to none but her relationships with her colleagues was even better. May you rest in Peace my friend. I will miss you dearly.

You always make people smile, Rhonda! You touched so many people – ones you haven’t even met. All your amazing artwork, from the stained glass masterpieces to the tiles and cards, you have such a legacy………

I’m honored to have met you four years ago at work. And honored to have you as a colleague and as a dear friend.

The day we lost my mom three years ago, someone told me there’d be a new star in the sky that night. Something so little to say, but something powerful. And something that’s been so comforting. I talk to it every night on our late walk with our dog. Now that Mom and Dad are together again, I still talk to that star at night and say how much we miss them. And it twinkles more. I swear. Scout’s honor!

I remember saying to you a few months ago that someday this summer or fall, I knew there would be a new star in the sky, and that I will notice it right away, and will know you are not suffering. A week ago tonight, we did see a new very bright star — it has to be yours — we miss you even more than when you left work in May. But we’ll see you again someday. And you can show us how to twinkle – twinkling makes me think of your laugh and your amazing smile! You will always be with your dear family and friends! We will never forget you!

Big hugs from all of us!

Condolences to the Gee Family. Rhonda was a wonderful and creative person with a great sense of humour. We have fond memories of Rhonda when we were camping and she would warm up a large rock in the campfire and wrap it in a towel to put in her sleeping bed to keep her warm. She would name the rock Riccardo or something like that and say let’s go to bed mow, Ricardo. We always had a good laugh. Thanks for the memories.

Rhonda aligned family, friends, work, volunteer commitments, interests and hobbies to create a sparkling life rich in colour, love and laughter. Her passion and life …her bright light…was reflected in her glass art, I will think of her when I look at the art she helped me create, when I solder, when I bake Christmas cookies and especially when I have chai tea. She was inspiring as she faced this final challenge. Thank you to her family…her peeps she called you….who helped her to live every day. You too have been inspiring!
