GAUDRY, Jason Don

May 20, 1972 – Burnaby, British Columbia
March 8, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that the family of Jason Gaudry of Calgary announces his passing on March 8, 2019 at the age of 46 years. Jason was born in Burnaby, British Columbia on May 20, 1972.

Jay was a devoted grandfather and loved dearly as ‘PoppaJay’ by his granddaughters. He loved his time with Gracie, Quinn and Sadie and they were his greatest joy. He often would stop in the middle of his day to see the girls and say hello with hugs and memories that will last a life time.

Jay loved spending as much time as possible with his mother Joyce, and his biggest wish was to be the best son, brother, father and poppa that he could be. Jay had a love for the birds that he cared for and the joy that they brought to him.

Over his career, Jay was a mason and carpenter. Jay has been a part of the KMS tools team in his most recent years and was very proud to be a part of the KMS family.

Jay is survived by his mother, Joyce Lounsbury; brothers, Christopher, Kyle and Jamie Gaudry; his daughter Paige Ontkean and son-in-law Kevin Blake; granddaughters, Gracie, Sadie and Quinn Blake, and he will be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. He was predeceased by his father Wayne Gaudry.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Jay Gaudry, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB, T2X 3J3, Telephone: 403-256-9575.

    Hello,

I would just like to extend my deepest condolences to your family at this very sad time. Jay was a very kind man who always went out of his way to say good morning to us all and he will be sorely missed by all of us at KMS Tools. I never got to meet Jay personally, but I did speak to him almost daily and not seeing his name pop up in my emails anymore is saddening. I can only imagine how you are all feeling right now, and my heart goes out to you all.

  7. Paige , our condolences and sympathies at this time, to you and all of the family, it was a pleasure to know your father as he was one of the first people we met with when we moved to Canada from the U.K. He helped and advised us the best he could and even looked after our dog one time (“Tyr” was his name) in the house that we all shared . Both me and my wife Sandra will remember him fondly.

My deepest and sincerest condolences to all those who got to spend even 5 minutes with Jay. He was a man of many stories and even more laughter. I will miss your stories and our conversations. When I started at KMS, you were one of my first “hellos” and I appreciate how welcoming you were. It was an honour to get to know you. May you now rest with the Angels.

  9. I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Jay. Thank you, Paige for the post you shared on Jay’s page. That would have been difficult for you to do. I would not have known otherwise. I went to school with Jay and we have kept in touch over the years. Jay and I used to go see the monster trucks together when they came to Lethbridge. I still have a couple pieces of Jay’s artwork that he drew back in school. He spoke very fondly of his mother, daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and his birds. I will miss his enthusiastic messages and pictures and even the fun jabs about the 80’s hair back in the day. My condolences to all of you.
