FROEHLER, Joyce Lorraine

October 18, 1929 – Strasbourg, Saskatchewan
December 8, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

With sadness we say “Goodbye for now” to Joyce Froehler, who passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the age of 89 years.

Born in Saskatchewan and residing briefly in B.C., Joyce was a true Albertan at heart, living in High River, Three Hills, Lethbridge, and settling permanently in Calgary in 1967. Joyce loved the rolling hills where mountains and prairies met. She loved the open skies and the seasons. She enjoyed travelling to many parts of the world, but was always happy to be home in Calgary again.

A long sojourn in the city allowed Joyce to make many dear friends. It was impossible to accompany her anywhere without meeting an acquaintance from work, church, or ministry.

Joyce’s life was filled with music, shared in many ways, including 40+ years singing with the Berg Chorale. She was constantly active and eager to serve: helping at summer camp and coordinating international work teams with husband Walter, and volunteering in the Ambrose University library until she was hospitalized in October. She viewed life as a gift to invest, and she invested it well. Her faith and hope were an example to us, and friends and family are thankful to God for her.

Joyce was predeceased by brother Glen Myers; parents Elgin and Edith Myers; husband Alf Radant and husband Walter Froehler.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Ken and Diane Radant and their children Brian and Heather.

Funeral Services will be held at First Alliance Church (12345 – 40th Street S.E., Calgary, AB) on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Church. Condolences may be forwarded through

In living memory of Joyce Froehler, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40 Street SE, Calgary, AB, T2Z 4E6, Telephone: 403-203-0525.

Condolence Messages

  1. Wayne and Beverly Meyer

Ken and Diane Radiant and family, our sincerest condolences to you in the passing of your mother last Saturday. We go back a long way in time. I first met Joyce in
High River when she used to come over to our house on her time home from Three Hills and practice a special song for Sunday in the local Baptist church. Prior to that, my father helped her father find an interim job in High River before Elgin returned to work in Lincoln Park in Calgary to his chosen job as an aircraft mechanic.
I had lost track of your mother for a few years until I attended a Berg Chorale concert and Joyce was singing with them. She had a wonderful soprano voice and Walter was her biggest fan!!!.
We have stayed in touch for many years now and I have always appreciated Joyce’s commitment to wonderful Christian music and the Christian community through her work at Ambrose university.
She is in a much better place now, but she will be missed down here remembered for all she has faithfully done for the Lord while with us.
We are sorry we won’t be able to attend the funeral service this coming Friday, but our prayers go with you.
