FRIESEN, Menno

A Celebration of a great life, the family of Menno Friesen of Calgary, AB announce the passing of Menno on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at the age of 89 years. Menno was a Christian man and will now be spending time with his Lord our Saviour.

Menno, worked for Alberta Power for over twenty years, living in Beaverlodge before moving onto the family farm in 1973 where he farmed for another twenty years. Menno loved farming and was extremely good at it, raising crops and he had names for every one of his cows. Upon retirement Menno lived in High River and Lethbridge. He also loved hockey, something he was very good at in his younger years, and was a die-hard Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan. He loved life, and all that came with it, doing everything he did to the best of his ability.

Menno is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years Lizabeth; sons, Michael and Gary (Joanne); and daughter Elaine. Menno was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren, Petrina (Darin), Justin (Kayla), Jeremy (Mel) and Jordan; and his three great-grandsons, Cooper, Connor and Jett. Menno is also survived by two sisters, Madeline Parlee (Nelson) and Elizabeth Wideman; and sisters-in-law, Martha and Wilma; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Menno was predeceased by his brothers, Vic (Margaret), Dave and Corney; and brothers-in-law, Hartley Butler and Joe Wideman.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in La Glace, AB. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
