Charles Francis of Wesley First Nation passed away peacefully on Monday, February 11, 2019 at the age of 63 years.

Chuck will be remembered and missed by those who knew him. At an early age, he excelled in the game of hockey which brought him to the AA Hockey in Lethbridge. Chuck was always proud of his accomplishments in hockey. He later gained an interest in the sport of Rodeo as well as competing in Steer wrestling, where found his calling. Chuck was a very determined person. He worked for Morley Public Works for many years as a water truck driver and also drove for Nakoda Bus Lines. Chuck made friends wherever he went. He was a comical person and enjoyed making people laugh. Chuck felt that language was so important to our community and he always expressed the importance of culture and keeping the traditions close at heart.

Charles leaves behind his loving mother Winnie Francis; his children, Clinton and Charmine Kootenay; step-daughters, Verlyna and Renetta Rider; grandchildren, Conroy, Cecilia, Skaia; brothers, Rod (Emily), Benny (Myrna), Marvin (Jody); sisters, Sylvia (Gordon), Nelda, Gayleen (Frank H.), Doyletta (Leon); special niece and nephew, Arcilla (Jovon), Nicholas Meguinis, Kolet (George), Krista (Dallas); special cousin Rod (Iris) Albert.

Charles also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins from Ma-Me-O Beach, Hobbema, Morley, Tsuu’tina and Bighorn. We apologize if we have missed anyone.

Charles was predeceased by his father Jensen Francis in March 2004; brother Terry Francis in May 1995; sister Marilyn Twoyoungmen in March 2000; grandma Annie Amos in December 1988; nephew Shelly Irby Twoyoungmen in October 2016; adopted parents, Auntie Alice Twoyoungmen on March 30, 2017 and Uncle William Twoyoungmen in April 29, 2017.

Wake Services will be held at the Residence of Arcilla and Jovon Beaver (Morley, AB) on Thursday, February 14 and Friday, February 15, 2019. Funeral Services will be held at the Bearspaw Youth Centre (Morley, AB) on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Wesley Cemetery (Morley, AB).
