October 30, 1920 – Elma, Manitoba
March 5, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta

Angie Filipowich, of Calgary, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Bethany Care Center on March 5, 2016 at the age of 95 years. Angie was the middle child of Steve Filipowich and Annie Manko. She is predeceased by her sisters Catherine (Kay) and Mary and is survived by her nephew Leslie Solar and good friends who will miss her and the often request of wanting a “ Huggy”.

Angie loved to dance and enjoyed music. Her passionate stories of when she taught dancing in Los Angeles stayed with her until the very end. Angie’s other pleasures were sewing and her german shepards. She was a serious reader and passionate to support her causes through Victims of Law Dilemma (VOLD).

We wish to thank the dedicated staff at the Bethany Care Centre for their kindness and care of Angie during her years she remained a resident there.

A special thank you to Dr. Amin Kerhani the “good looking one” and his staff at Calgary Retina Consultants for the personalized care they always gave Angie, making her smile every visit and particularly for the time and extra medical attention given to Angie on January 14 when emergency care was required.

To the drivers from 4Seasons Transportation, thank you for the laughs and tender touch on our scheduled trips.

Thank you to All About Seniors- for the last two years your companionship for Angie was a treasure and a bright spot of her days.

In Angie’s words, “Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, I love you people”

A Celebration of Life will be held in honour of Angie Filipowich at a later date.

Condolences for the family of “FILIPOWICH, Angela (Angie)”

Condolence from Colleen, Volunteer, Bethany Calgary on March 10th, 2016 12:49 AM

Angie’s face would light up when I called her my Dancing Queen. Before wheeling her in her wheelchair to Hymn Sing or Music Therapy, we would discuss which “dancing shoes” she would wear that day–the silver sandals with sequins, or maybe the shiny black ones with glitter on the spiked heels. I will miss chair dancing with this precious lady. Condolences to Les and to Wayne and family.

Condolence from Roger Marler on February 28th, 2019 9:58 PM

I am sorry this is so late, but I have just found the news. Angie was my first “landlady” when I moved to Calgary from Vancouver 40 years ago tomorrow; she offered B&B accommodation with many smiles and laughter. And it was a bitter month: snow every night and slush every evening; but she was always a reassuring support. I am glad she had such a good innings.
