FERRONATO, Anna Maria (nee Ciampanelli)

January 26, 1936 – Bonefro, Campobasso, Italy
January 29, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Anna Maria (Mary) Ferronato (nee Ciampanelli) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 29, 2019.

Mary was born January 26, 1936 in Bonefro, Campobasso, Italy. In 1953, along with her two sisters and mother, Filomena, she left Italy to be reunited with her father, Antonio, in Canada. In 1958, she married the love of her life, Bruno, and was later blessed with the birth of her “miracle” son, Lino. For many years, Mary worked at the drycleaners… long hours and hard work were part of her daily routine. She was always happy to have company, share a meal, and help others. Her neighbours and friends were treasured as were the long phone calls with her sisters and friends. Although shy and gentle, she welcomed everyone in her heart.

Mary is survived by her son, Lino, her sisters Assunta (Primo) Ferronato and Celestina (Gennaro) Maucieri, and her brother-in-law Joe (Lucia) Ferronato. She will be lovingly remembered by many nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Bruno, in 1972.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Church (404 Northmount Pl. NW, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to St. Anthony of Padua Mission Aid (1320 Leslie St. Suite 100, Toronto, ON M3C 2K9). Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Anna Maria Ferronato, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, CALGARY, AB, T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-243-8200.

Dear Lino and all Mary’s family,
It was with much sadness that we learned of the passing of your dear mom. So many good and sad memories of a very long friendship. I know my mom and Mary spent many hours on the phone, listening to each other’s complaints and highlights of their days. Such good friends and neighbors for many years! Her pride in you always shared. One special memory I have of your mom, Lino , was a day she was babysitting sitting us and I was leaning on the back of the rocking chair and she tipped right over. No harsh words were exchanged… She was a gem! She taught us how to make pasta and pizzelle, shared her apples and veggies, and always opened her home to us. Quite honestly, I don’t remember a time when your family wasn’t a part of our lives and now we will miss her. Godspeed Mary!
