November 14, 1929 – Calgary, Alberta
August 16, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta
Jim Fendall, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on August 16, 2018 at the age of 88 years.
Jim was born in Hannah, Alberta and moved to Calgary after his father died in 1945. He attended St. Mary’s High School, and later fell for his wife Violet at a dance. Jim and Violet married in 1950.
Jim was an astute and successful business entrepreneur, running a mortgage and insurance company and building residential properties.
He was instrumental in forming the group that purchased the Willow Park Golf & Country Club from his friend and business associate E.V. Keith.
He loved golf, pool, driving fast in nice cars, flashy boats, and combing his luxurious “non-grey” hair.
Jim was a strict dad, and his children could not get away with anything. He mellowed out over the years with each generation, and at the end his great-grandchildren were the joy of his life. There was no one quite like Jim Fendall and the world will be a less interesting place without him.
Jim had four children Dale, Janice (Lorne), Valerie (Rick) and Jay. He had 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Jim was predeceased by his wife Violet, and daughter Janice. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A special thanks to the team at Unit 78 South Calgary Campus.
A celebration of life will be held at Willow Park Golf & Country Club (639 Willow Park Dr SE, Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
