ELLIOT, Kerry Lynne

May 10, 1949 – February 3, 2017

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Kerry Lynne Elliot (née McCarthy) passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017 after an incredibly courageous year long battle with lung cancer. Kerry was the devoted wife and best friend to Neil for 44 years. Her daughters Kathryn Rounding (Phil) and Lauren were the centre of her world, along with her adored grandchildren Grayson and Anna. She will be sorely missed by her sister, Patricia Runcer (Gordon); brother-in-law, Roger Lundberg and a multitude of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Kerry will be remembered first and always as a loving mother and wife and an amazing Nana, who passed on her love of reading and crafting. The many students whose lives she impacted over a 25 year teaching career will always remember her as a caring and understanding teacher and friends will remember her laughter and kindness. Kerry always thought of others before herself and we are all grateful to have had her warm heart and her generosity of spirit in our lives.

Please join the Elliot and Rounding families as we celebrate Kerry’s life at an open house party on Sunday, May 28, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The celebration of life will take place at the Glendale Community Centre, 2405 Glenmount Drive S.W. Come early, come late, stay for a little, stay for a while. Bring your stories and memories of Kerry, and let’s honour her in the way she would have liked best – by sharing love and laughter.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200 – 325 Manning Rd. N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 2P5 Telephone: (403) 205-3966, email: donorservices@cancer.ab.ca, website: www.cancer.ca. Photos, memories and condolences may be sent to missingkerry@gmail.com, to be shared at her celebration.

  10. North Roundings

    Neil, Kathryn, Lauren: Kerry’s love is evident in the people around her, and in the way she faced this challenging year. Her choice to live to the fullest even in the midst of her battle is amazing, and our kids will always remember the goofy tennis lessons we got to have last summer. Our hearts are saddened right now, but things will get easier as remember her caring, easy-going and fun nature, and the support that she gave to everyone around her. All our love and best wishes are coming your way now and forever. Please don’t hesitate to call on us if you need anything – you know cousins are dynamite distractions for Kylo Ren and Princess Anna.

    Love from the North Roundings – Mike, Adena, Graham, Sabrina

  15. Dear Neil and family;
    I was saddened today to hear of Kerry’s passing I was thinking about the two of you just the other day and imaging you enjoying your fun down south as snow birds. Kerry was my mentor teacher when I first started my teaching career. I could not have had a better role model as she was a highly skilled, devoted, caring and fun loving teaching partner. There were many days in those first trying years as a beginning teacher that Kerry would offer her shoulder and her smile and her encouragement. I was truly blessed to have been placed on her teaching team. My deepest condolences.

  20. I doubt there could be more of a gentle soul than Kerry. She always had a genuine smile and a kind word to greet you. In crossing her path periodically over the decades of knowing her and Neil, she always had good things to say about everybody, never a negative word ever spoken about anything… it was simply not in her DNA. Her and Neil were an absolute perfect match, mirror images of themselves, and inspirational as role models for other couples. She was an angel in every sense of the word/meaning. She touched many and will be sorely missed. We are all blessed to have know her :).

  21. Dear Neil and Family
    Anytime I saw Kerry at the Calgary Tennis Club, it was with people she was smiling and laughing with while enjoying our great sport. She had a grace and calmness about her that made each of us better people. The family bond will not be broken as she will continue to weave her positive influences. Neil, you are supported by all of your tennis family across the country. Many hugs,
