ECKHARDT, Lynn Ann

February 9, 1957 – Lachine, Quebec
June 23, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

A beautiful, bright, loving mother, wife and friend, Lynn Ann Eckhardt (nee Gregor) took her life on Saturday, June 23, 2018, after struggling with severe anxiety and depression.

Lynn was deeply devoted to family and her children, Conrad and Julia. She was always happiest when she was with her two “little chickadees”, and she showered them with love, generosity and attention. She adored her husband Ron, who was the love of her life. Lynn was a very loyal friend – an honest and wise confidant who knew both how to listen and thoughtfully share her insights.

One of Lynn’s greatest passions was food and wine. She was an amazing cook who adored bringing together family and friends around the dinner table. Lynn had a remarkable ability to vividly remember meals that she had eaten from all eras of her life. Everywhere she went, Lynn sought out the best food and wine – there are pictures of her eating food in restaurants and people’s houses all over the world. As she said, she was a fat person in a skinny body.

Lynn embodied the essence of beauty and loved all things beautiful. From the food she cooked to the paintings she made, to her love of fashion and home decor, Lynn’s artistic spirit was expressed in all aspects of her life.

Lynn loved travelling, yoga, dancing, going for long walks, and painting- especially flowers and beautiful abstract pieces. Lynn was very interested in people, health, wellness, and psychology, which was her major in University.

Lynn loved to read and learn- she was intelligent and accomplished. She rose to the highest position in HR at Talisman Energy when it was a mighty global energy company. She strived to provide fair and equitable programs across all cultures- not an easy task. Her work was only exceeded in importance by her family and friends.

Lynn is survived by her husband Ron Eckhardt; her two children, Conrad and Julia Skrzypinski; extended family and many friends. We will forever hold her in our hearts and love her to the moon and back.

We will honour Lynn’s life at the Azuridge Estate Hotel (178057 272 Street W, Priddis, AB, T0L 1W0) at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Canadian Mental Health Association – Calgary Region, #105, 1040 – 7 Avenue SW, Calgary, AB, T2P 3G9, http://cmha.calgary.ab.ca/

You do not know me but I commend you for acknowedging why your loved one died while balancing that with the fine way she lived her life. My husband died suddenly in his sleep on June 30 of unknown natural causes. My mother’s death was by suicide after a second cancer had occurred. I can tell you that shock and horror eventually give way to acceptance and some sort of respect for their courage.

    Ron, Julia and Conrad,
John and I are deeply saddened by Lynn’s passing, we have broken hearts both to find out about the struggles that she had, but also for the loss of such a beautiful soul. I will forever cherish the conversation I had with Lynn and yourself at the airport in November. There were a few things that she said that have really helped me in contemplating my path for the next few years after my life at Talisman/Repsol.
Rest in peace Lynn, until we meet again.

    Dearest Ron & Family,

Thank you so much for sharing this most tragic news with me. I am both shocked and heartbroken. There are no words to express my condolences for your loss.

I am so grateful that I had the pleasure, and the opportunity to meet and work with Lynn. The memories we made while we worked together, and while I lived at your home to paint the most gigantic painting I ever made, are dear and precious to me.

Recently, I have been contemplating not teaching painting anymore. This news is a testament to me that I must continue to share my passion with the world, as I did with Lynn. I remember how happy, and excited she was when she told me she sold her first painting. I am humbled and honoured that painting could make her feel that way.

I wish you all the love, light and peace during this most difficult time.
