  2. Manon Mitchell :

On behalf of the entire Calgary Civic Symphony family, as well as my own (since my whole family knew Ernie) I would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Gay, Bruce and the entire family, some of whom I have had the pleasure to meet at our recent concert. Ernie was a dear dear friend and I enjoyed the many technical conversations we have had over the years about solving Microsoft Excel problems. It was wonderful to have him in the horn section in the Civic and as I recall he was the first person who approached me and extended friendship when I joined the Calgary Concert band in 1990. Ernie will be sadly missed by all of us. We pray for your journey over the next little while and hope you find comfort and peace.

  11. Dear Gay and Bruce, Kathleen and Anne, We are sorry to learn of Ernie’s passing and our deepest sympathies go out to you. Ernie was a very intelligent , interesting and talented person – one we will all miss. His subtle sense of humour and interest in others and the world around him were the characteristics I particularly appreciated. His talent as a musician made him a rarity within the Gordon side of the family.
Joan and I send you our sympathy and best wishes and we trust that you will find strength in the support of family and friends in the days and months ahead.
    With love, Jim Gordon

  12. I was very sad that I had to miss the funeral but I am glad my wife, Barbara could be there for me. Ernie and I have been friends and colleagues for almost 40 years. Ernie was a most gracious and stalwart person from the first day we met, right through to our last moments together in the hospital. I hope that, when my time comes, I can muster some small measure of Ernie’s grace and dignity. Our thoughts are with Ernie’s family as they carry on without his care and support.

  15. Sorry to just learn of Ernie’s passing. I knew him for many years. He was a valued asset to the Symphony of the Kootenay, giving up many weekend over time to come to Cranbrook, BC and play in our orchestra. Few people are willing to share their musical gifts that way and we appreciated his contribution.
