DOMBOWSKY, Sydney

July 24, 1939 – January 25, 2017

Syd Dombowsky, 77, of Calgary, Alberta passed away suddenly Wednesday, January 25, 2017. Syd was born near Lestock, Saskatchewan in 1939. Syd, son of Joseph and Helen Dombowsky, loving husband of Dolores Lillian Dombowsky (Bekar), passed away January 25th, 2017 at his home in Calgary, Alberta after a few years of heart issues.

Syd is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Helen and his brother John of Trenton. He is survived by his loving wife Dolores, and son Blaine (Nicole) of Calgary, five grandchildren (Hannah, Cassie, Mackenzie, Colten and Cody) of Calgary, two sisters Diane Beingessner (Don) of Regina and Madeline Landry (Art) of Moose Jaw.

Syd’s successful career included being a heavy duty mechanic at R. Angus and then finding himself in a number of specialized roles in the heavy equipment industry for Kramer Tractor until his retirement, when he then worked with his son in the custom orthotic industry. He deeply loved and cherished his time spent with his grandchildren, son, numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael Catholic Community (800 – 85th Street S.W.) on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. Donations in Syd’s name can be made to: Alberta Children’s Hospital. Syd was noted for his optimistic attitude often saying, “It’ll be fine.” Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

  12. So sad to hear that Uncle Syd had passed away. Although we lived far apart he always connected with us with messages and greetings. After losing my father (John) he had been our link to the rest of the family out west. I will miss him dearly.
