DOLOSO, Maria Teresa

February 20, 1965 – Manila, Philippines
December 22, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta

Maria Teresa “Tess” Doloso, devoted, loving and generous daughter, nurturing and diplomatic sister and caring and affectionate aunt, passed away on December 22, 2017 with family by her side.

Tess was born in Manila, Philippines in 1965 and immigrated to Calgary in 1987. She worked at Rona for 27 years and loved watching hockey.
An avid traveler, a fighter until the end, she is finally at home with her Creator. She will be forever in our hearts – cherished as a woman of grace and few words, always gave wise insights about life to family and friends. An optimist, she would look up in the sky when something went wrong and believed everything would be all right. She was beautiful inside and out and gave selflessly to her loved ones.
She is survived by her parents, Romeo and Exaltacion; sisters Ba, Aida, Tina and Anna; nieces Danni and Raffi; and brother-in-law Derrick.

Those wishing to pay their respects in Calgary may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Eastside, 5388 Memorial Drive N.E., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (211 – 6th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. Her ashes will be buried in Seattle, WA. More information to follow. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Tess Doloso, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Eastside, 5388 MEMORIAL DRIVE N.E., Calgary, AB Telephone: 403- 248-8585.

Condolence Messages

  1. Gemma Cruz OCAMPO

I heard the sad news thru her sister Ba. I was expecting to talk to her after her first chemo session but I never had that chance.
Tess was my grade school, high school classmate and godmother of my eldest son. Every year, we never missed out calling or sending email messages on our birthdays.

But I’m glad she is back to her Creator…no more pains and no more sufferings.

Kumare, I love you so much as you treated me as a member of your family….may you find peace and love with our Lord Jesus Christ.

  6. My name is Karen Wykes and I have worked with Maria for the past 16 years at Rona. She was a very private person and always kind. When she attended Julian’s wedding she helped me to understand the traditional wedding. We spent a lot of time talking about work related things and personal things, she was a great listener. I miss her. To her family I want to express my great respect and admiration for Maria as she was not only a co-worker but also a friend to me. God bless her.

I have always told Tess: “I am so thankful to God that He blessed me with a best friend such as you”
“You are HIS gift not only to your family but to mine as well”
She is the most thoughtful person I’ve known, generous, loving, caring and gentle in all her words and actions all through out those 39 years since we crossed our path from first year high school in Manila until here in Canada. So many memories made that will be cherished.

Tess is more than a friend, she is a sister to me who treated my family especially my children as hers too.

She and her family are a part our family… and will always be in our hearts forever.

As I gave her this quote back in high school :
“FRIENDS WE WILL BE NOW AND FOREVER”

    Now I can say :
“FRIENDSHIP DOES NOT END IN DEATH. IT IS ETERNAL”

Tess’ passing is more than deeply saddening… truly broke my heart but only comforted by knowing she is in the Glory of our Lord Jesus Christ and that she is now resting in peace.

Our heart and prayers goes to her loving family to be comforted as well by celebrating the joy, the smiles, the love and good memories Tess has imparted in our lives.
