November 16, 1967 – Calgary, Alberta
June 24, 2019 – Tsuu T’ina, Alberta

Dickie left us suddenly and peacefully at his residence on the Tsuu T’ina Nation surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, June 24, 2019 at the age of 51 years.

Dickie raised his children to be responsible and independent. He also raised them to own up to their mistakes and not to fight with each other. He raised them to be strong and not to hold a grudge. He was an awesome Moosum to all his grandchildren that loved him dearly. In his early years he was an artist and drew the first NANCA logo. He was the best chute man at Roasting Rodeo. His late father-in-law said he was the best stripper in the west. He was a self taught guitarist. Dickie and his wife Marcella proudly owned and operated Dodginghorse Security Ltd. In which they trained and employed all 7 of their children.

He leaves behind his loving wife of thirty four years, Marcella Dodginghorse, his children, Jamie (Larry), Dixie (Lance), Katie (Kyle), Bailey (Ryan), Kaycee (Dylan), Richard (Autumn), Zoey (Dakota) and Zane; his grandchildren, Isabella, Dakota, Lucas, Rylen, Kaytin, Rose, Kason, Lakyn, Ariel, Christopher and Karson. He also leaves behind his sisters, Cheryl Dodginghorse (Raymond) and Delphine (Gary) Righthand; his special nieces, Jessica, Raedene, Grace and Megan; his special nephews, Langdon, Lee, Robert, Henry, Nate, Hank, Whitman and Zared. Along with all his adopted children on the Tsuut’ina Nation. He is predeceased by his parents, Richard and Ida Dodginghorse; brothers, Bruce Makinaw and Michael Dodginghorse; his grandparents, Katie and Jim Dodginghorse; and uncles, Ronald, Gary, Dolphus and Harry Dodginghorse.
