DIAMOND, Leslie M., B.A., LL.B.

April 27, 1925 – December 27, 2018

Leslie Diamond passed away peacefully in Calgary on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the age of 93.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years Miriam Diamond; daughter, Sari Diamond; sons, Tyler Diamond and Jerrold (Lisa) Diamond; five grandchildren and sister, Dorothy Smith. He was predeceased by his siblings Yvette Watson-Munro, Nate, Perry and Sam Diamond.

Les was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and graduated from United College in 1948 and the Manitoba Law School in 1952. In 1960, he moved to Calgary and enjoyed the practice of law until his retirement. He was proud of his work as a chairman and adjudicator of numerous labour arbitrations.

Les was active in his community and a past president of the Calgary B’nai B’rith and Mayfair Bel-Aire community association. He was an avid tennis player, traveller, photographer and reader.

Funeral Services will be held at the Beth Tzedec Synagogue (1325 Glenmore Trail S.W., Calgary, AB) on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. with interment to follow at Beth Tzedec Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. The family thanks Dr. Gerald Mills and the Garrison Green staff for their care and kindness.

  2. Miriam, so sorry to hear of Leslie’s passing. I was very glad to see him this past summer. We briefly planned an “escape’ plan from his hospital room at the Rocky but the windows would not accommodate him! Les was one of my very first clients when I embarked on my financial career. I remember him saying “I’ll give you a shot” ! That was a long time ago. I’ll remember him, our conversations and his mentorship. Thank you Mim for looking after him so.
