DEVOLIN, Kenneth Norman

April 16, 1935 – Penticton, British Columbia
March 20, 2017 – Calgary , Alberta

Ken beloved and devoted husband of Grace Mary Devolin (nee Shultz) of Airdrie, AB, passed away on March 20, 2017 at the age of 81 years.

Ken the first son of Hugh and Ivy was born in Penticton, BC on April 16, 1935.

At a young age his family moved to a farm near Didsbury, Alberta, where Ken developed his love for the farm. Ken then met a girl named Grace serving his coffee in a local restaurant, they were married in 1964.

Ken worked for the City of Calgary Transit as a bus operator for the next 30 years. He would receive many awards and recognition for his services to the City of Calgary.

Ken had many interests in his life, first of which were always his wife, children and grandchildren. He had a love of Hockey, as a long time Flames’ season ticket holder, and also loved football as a fan of the Saskatchewan Rough Riders. Ken had loved and spent much of his time traveling, enjoying cooking and listening to country music. He took great pride in beautifying and tending his yards over the years.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Grace; sons Kevin (Bobbie) of Cochrane and Wade (Liana) of Calgary; grandchildren Cassie, Kaitlyn and Diego; siblings Barb and June; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and many friends. Ken was predeceased by his parents Hugh and Ivy, his sister Geraldine and brother Ron.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church (1350 Main Street S.E., Airdrie, AB) on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so prior to the Mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Family and friends are invited to a lunch following the Funeral Service in the parish hall. All are welcome to join the family at a Graveside Service after the lunch at Didsbury Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Rotary Flames House through the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation (2888 Shaganappi Trail NW Calgary, Alberta T3B 6A8) in Ken’s name.
