De GRACE, Oswald (Ozzie) Launge Michael Austin

September 29, 1920 – Moncton, New Brunswick
June 21, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta

Oswald De Grace of Calgary passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at the age of 95 years.

Ozzie was born in Moncton, New Brunswick on September 29, 1920 to Annie and James De Grace. He grew up in Moncton with his 3 sisters and 2 brothers. In 1940 he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and work as ground crew at the RCAF training base at Fort Macleod, AB until the end of World War II in 1945. While in the RCAF, he met and married Dorothy Forbes. After the war they settled in Calgary and raised a family of 2 daughters.

Ozzie worked for Imperial Oil from the end of the war until he retired in 1982. In retirement, he and Dorothy took a number of trips to parts of the world that they had always wanted to visit. Ozzie was a gentle man who always got along well with everyone he met. Ozzie loved curling and curled as many times a week as possible. If it wasn’t curling season, you would find Ozzie walking the North Hill.

He will always be remembered by his brothers, Charles (Janice) and Joseph; his daughter Linda (Gary); his grandson David (Stephanie); his granddaughter Krista (Dan); and his great-grandsons, Mark, Luc, Ian, and Jack. Ozzie was predeceased by his sisters, Phyllis, Rachel and Ruth; his daughter Carol; and his wife of 61 years Dorothy.
