  33. I started working at Computalog in 1978 and worked there for 12 years. It was the first good job I had after returning to Canada with my wife and infant daughter. Many time when I think of my life, I feel real gratitude to Walter for the job and the benefits it provided. I thought many times that I should send him an e-mail expressing my gratitude. Unfortunately I never did.

Margaret, Sandy, Diane, Tara. I’m so sad by this news and thinking of you all during this difficult time. Walter was truly my best boss I had (not necessarily easiest LOL) but he treated me very well as he did for many. I loved his fun spirit and the little devil side he had in him always kept everyone on their toes. But under all of that was the kindest softest soul. He was truly a “CLASSIC”. Computalog to this day was the best company I ever worked for. We worked hard but had so much fun doing so. Rest easy Walter and I know you will continue to shine down on your family and guide them thru life. Shelly

I am very sorry to hear this very sad news but I took a few minutes to think of his incredible life and his big heart. He truly enjoyed life and made many of us smile. I am grateful for having the opportunity of knowing and working with him. It was great to have caught up with him last time I was in Phoenix. I know it is a difficult time for all and I wish you all well. Unfortunately I will not make it back from the Philippines but I will be thinking of Walter and how much love he had for you Margaret and his family.

    Our dear cousin Marg,
Words of comfort are difficult to find at such a time as this. Often I have wished that we had had more opportunities to know Walter better, for we found him to be a gentle soul…kind, and a most interesting and successful man. We send our condolences through Matthew 5:4 which reads “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” May you find comfort in the many memories you and you family made with him during the time he was with you. I wish we could be with you at this sad time. Much love and hugs! Lorraine and George

Margaret, it was with great sadness that I learnt of Walter’s passing. Walter was a great inspiration for me and many others and it feels like I have lost a mentor and close friend. In fact he was more than a friend, he was more like my wise older brother. He had seen it all and pretty much achieved whatever he put his mind to. He was an amazing man. A great Entrepreneur, at times a hard nosed businessman but always a kind and courteous human being.

Of course my own sadness at his passing must be nothing compared to the sadness and grief that you and the family must be suffering. It is hard to come up with words that can offer much solace, other than to say that you all experienced a life that few could have the pleasure of enjoying. His family meant everything to Walter and although he was always excited by the chance of chasing another deal, the thrill of the hunt was always subsidiary to the health and well being of his family. Tracy and I are thinking and praying for you all.

Hearing that Mr. Walter Dawson has passed away, I am extremely sad and mourning for him, an exemplary and dear father, dear grandfather of yours, also our very good and dear friend.

Walter is a wonderful man. More than 14 years work by his side, he always kindly treated me like a smaller sister. I also think of him as my real brother, in work as well as in life.

When he was seriously ill, here in Vietnam, I had been crying a lot and always praying for his recovery, but … he had been going away forever …
This is a giant loss to you, your family and also to us.

I sincerely send my deepest Condolences to you, Margaret and your love ones in the Dawsons’ family.

May Mr. Walter Dawson’s soul rest in peace by the side of our great God

We will miss him a lot and always keep Walter in our heart.

Hello Margaret & Family. I offer our sincerest condolences. I had been exchanging e-mails with Walter just two/three weeks previously. We had agreed on a coffee during my visit through Calgary later this month. Memories from our days at Computalog and, also, Gearhart and Perfco, shall suffice. He was always smiling, polite and enthusiastic. And knowledgeable. I especially remember his “Let’s do it” attitude on entering the West Africa and Far East Asia markets. Walter was an exceptional man, a “friend”. He, as well as you Margaret and the family, are in our prayers.
