Walter passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 2, 2019.
Walter was born on April 23, 1940, in Shaunavon, Sask. At a young age he left the family farm to start what would be a lifelong career in the oil and gas industry. Walter fostered an entrepreneurial spirit, which led to the founding and development of multiple successful domestic and international companies. In 2007, he was inducted into the Saskatchewan Petroleum Industry Hall of Fame, in recognition for outstanding contributions to the petroleum industry in Saskatchewan and in Canada. Walter enjoyed golf and was a member of the Willow Park Golf and Country Club for over forty years. He also enjoyed spending time at his home in Arizona, making many new friends and acquaintances.
Walter is survived by his beloved wife Margaret, his children Sandy, Diane and Tara (Mike); his grandchildren Brad, Kelsey (Justin), Teagan and Grady; and his great-grandson Noah. Walter is also survived by his brother Norman (Anne-Marie), his sisters Gloria and Faith; as well as many nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by his parents William and Pearl; sisters Jesse and Dorothy; and his brother Bill. Walter will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather.
