  5. Dear Debbie and family,

None of us who were part of the original Young Canadians in 1968 will ever forget your mother. She was always calm, always helpful and resourceful, and always supportive. There was never a crisis when Lil Davey was around for she was completely unflappable despite the nerves and egos which never far away for everyone else. Lil Davey was as much a part of the grandstand show as anyone could ever have been, and her ready smile and reassuring manner will forever be among our memories of those early years which were so formative as the Young Canadians slowly became one of the constants of the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede. Please accept my most sincere sympathy in the loss of your wonderful mother.

  6. It is with deep sadness that I send my condolences to Herbie ,Debra, Jack and all of the neighbors and friends that were lucky enough to have Diamond Lil in their lives.Lil has been in my life since the tender age of 8 when Deb and I became life long friends while dancing in the Calgary Kidettes. All of the BBQ’s and Christmas dinners that we spent together bring a smile to my heart.I cherish the times spent in the sun room at the Ponderosa most of all. Lil always met me at the door with her arms wide open for a hug whether it was a day or a year since we last met. Though tiny in stature she was a force to be reckoned with, a constant ball of energy. We all know where Debra gets her strength from. I will miss you Diamond Lil.

  10. Herb, Debra, and Jack my thoughts and prayers are with you. I remember first meeting Lil after I had moved in with Debra after living life on the cruise ships where Deb and I met. Diamond Lil would come to Vegas to visit and she was a sparkling, smiling, beautiful, always laughing woman with a huge personality. When Lil was around you couldn’t help but be swept up in her laughter and her Bingo jackpot stories! I had the honor of visiting Lil and Herbie at the Ponderosa one year. I will always have the memory of her beautiful sun room and her ginormous Christmas Cactus, Lil had the best green thumb! My heart goes out to all of you, I love you..Lil will be missed.

Oh, dear Deb, my heart breaks to learn of your darling Mom’s passing. So many of us were so blessed to have spent so much of our youth and young adulthood under our Diamond Lil’s wing. She was always so kind, calm, patient and gentle with all of us. She was unflappable (in spite of working with kids of all ages and temperaments) and we all felt so loved by her.
There was a reason we called your Mom our “Diamond Lil”; she was a true gem who was loved by all, including me. I am so thankful she was able to be at our Kidette 50th. It was so special for all of us to be able to see her again.
Peter and I send our heartfelt condolences to you, Jack, Herb and to all who loved our Diamond Lil. Please know that we will be with you in spirit as you celebrate her wonderful life. With all our love and gentle hugs,
