CUTTANCE, Candace Lee

January 22, 1948 – Edmonton, Alberta
October 20, 2017 – Calgary, AB

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Candace Cuttance at the age of 69.

Those who knew Candace will miss her friendship, aptitude for listening, positive attitude, and joy for life. Candace loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and relished traveling with friends. Like her mother, Candace had a talent for artistry and a strong creative desire; her first love was pottery, followed by painting with acrylics and watercolour. She enjoyed volunteering for a number of years with the Calgary Humane Society in the area of surgery.

Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Candace was the proud daughter of a R.C.A.F. Captain who, along with her family, were stationed in various locals throughout Canada and Europe.

Candace raised her daughter Morgan on the farm outside of Carseland and made the move to Calgary when Morgan went to University. She spent many years working for Agrium (Cominco) first in Calgary, then Carseland, and finished her career at the head office in Calgary. Candace took great pleasure in traveling both near and far including Egypt, Portugal, Kenya and Tanzania, and most recently Osoyoos.

Candace will be missed dearly by her daughter, Morgan; son-in-law, Steven; grandsons; Asher and Emric; the Taylor family, who are an extension of her own family, and many cherished friends.
Candace was predeceased by her father, Gerald; her mother, Lois; and her brother, Richard.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at The Lake House – Lake Bonavista (747 Lake Bonavista Drive SE). In honour of Candace’s love of really good food we ask that you join us for lunch at the Lake House following the tributes.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in Candace’s name directly to The Calgary Humane Society, Surgery Unit, 4455 – 110th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2C 2T7, Telephone: (403)205-4455, www.calgaryhumane.ca. Condolences may be forwarded through http://www.mhfh.com/cuttance-candace-lee.

In living memory of Candace Cuttance, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th STREET S.E.. Telephone: 403-203-0525.

Condolence Messages

  1. Morgan & family,

Please accept my deepest sympathy on the passing of your mom. I worked with her at Agrium both while she was at the Caresland office and then upon her move to the Calgary head office. She was such an amazing lady and we all appreciated her thoroughness and great knowledge of everything she pursued. She will be sadly missed.

  2. Dear Morgan, Steven and boys,
I am John and Mickey Cool’s daughter (don’t know if you would recognize the name or not). I got to know your mom of course when you lived at my dad’s farm and then when you moved to your farm. She was a very caring, sincere person and meant a great deal to my mom and dad. We have two little granddaughters that are the center of our universe as I am sure your boys were for your mom. I am so sorry she has passed but I have a feeling you are as strong a person as she was and will get through this hard time with your wonderful family and will treasure great memories.
    With my deepest sympathy,
    Lynn Thurston

    Dear Morgan and family –

We were so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing Morgan. Such a kind, caring and loving person. The next while will be difficult but know she will always remain in fond memories. And no doubt Grandma stories will pop up to entertain the boys!

  5. Dear Morgan,
I was looking through the obituaries to-day, and found your Mom’s name. I believe that she was the Candace Cuttance who was in my Grade Three class at George Anderson Drive Elementary School in Toronto in 1956. I was teaching children of Downsview RCAF personnel at that time. I have remembered Candace’s name all these years, and have often wondered about her. How nice it would have been if we could have connected. I can see the resemblance to the little girl who was in my class. I am very sorry for your loss, and would be delighted if you would contact me to confirm our connection.
