We’re feeling the loss of such a grand lady of our community. I recall the fabulous award winning gingerbread houses on the dining room table. And her hiding the bananas from the boys. Lots of memories of staying overnight there. Thoughts are with you all

  13. You are such fortunate children to have had a mother like Irene. Her compassion, skill, heart and kindness in dealing with people was outstanding. I felt so proud shortly after marrying Marshall that Clarence felt he liked my cooking enough that he could pass along one of Irene’s recipes to enhance one of my dishes. I consider that a true honour. In these days of e-recipes, I am happy to have a recipe box filled with “good old fashioned” shortbread, icing, stew recipes (several of which came from Irene). Bless you all — remember Irene with love, kindness and joy.

Pat and I send our sincerest sympathy at the passing of a true Albert pioneer, Irene, loving wife, mother and grandmother. We last saw Irene when she attended in 2011 in Edmonton the 40th anniversary of the Alberta PC party becoming government so long before thanks to Peter Lougheed and Clarence and others who worked so hard for all of us. It was a privilege to know her.
