COLLINS, Thomas Albert

May 26, 1926 – Lockwood, Saskatchewan
November 14, 2018 – Calgary Alberta

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Thomas Albert “Al” Collins on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the age of 92 years. He passed away with his loving and devoted wife of 71 years by his side as she always was.

Al is predeceased by his parents Thomas and Mary; sister Bessie (Stan); sons Earl and Terry and son-in-law David.
Al is survived by his wife and best friend Bernetta; daughters Carol (David) and Mary Beth (Mark); grandchildren Christine (Sab), Mark (Britt), Andrew (Tori), Scott and James; great-grandson David and brother Ed (Margaret).

Al proudly served in the Canadian Military as a Royal Canadian Engineer for 29 years. These were some of the best memories of his life. His pride never faltered. After the Military, Al worked for 17 years with the Simcoe County Roman Catholic Separate School Board until his retirement.

Al spent many hours on horseback beginning in Ontario and continued in Alberta. He took pleasure riding in the mountains, moving cattle and cattle penning on his faithful horse Amy until his eighties. Al was a kind and gentle man, his smile lit up a room. He had a great sense of humour, loved country music and the sound of a Harley Davidson. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Condolence Messages

  1. My deepest condolence to the family for the passing of Al Collins. I have met Al and Bernetta a few times in the last couple of months while bringing holy communion to both of them at the Rocky Ridge retirement home and it was always a pleasure to meet them both every time even with Al medical issues. I pray that all of you but especially Bernetta find peace and closure in spite of your great loss.

    God Bless,
