CHISWELL, Brent

February 8, 1960 – Calgary, Alberta
May 20, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Brent Chiswell, beloved husband of Judy Chiswell (nee Langill) of Calgary passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019 at the age of 59 years.

Brent worked as a paramedic in Calgary for nineteen years and managed to juggle his work life balance like a professional. He was a kid at heart and the outdoors was his playground. He excelled at all sports but didn’t hesitate to enthusiastically share his expertise with family and friends. His magnetic personality and easy going manner attracted everyone to him.

Judy was no exception! He met Judy at a Christmas Party over thirty years ago and they were an item ever since. They had a magical marriage for over twenty six years; traveling, camping and experiencing life together.

Brent loved all dogs; he always had one (or three!) in his life and they were treated to the best life possible. Brent and his best buddy Takawa had eleven years filled with amazing adventures; from participating in the ‘Snowshoe from Hell’ to rafting and camping on the Kootenay River. Tak will miss his daily walks and snuggles with his best pal forever.

The passing of Brent leaves a deep void in this world; he will be dearly missed by all.

He is survived by his loving wife Judy Chiswell (nee Langill); brother Kirk (Sue) Chiswell; Uncle Bob Stokoe; Mother-in-law Bernadette Langill (nee Weber); Debbie (Mike) Romanyshyn; Peter Langill; David (Hien) Langill; Philip (Cathie Scotland) Langill; and many cherished nieces, nephews and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Harvey and Dorothy (nee Stockoe) and an infant brother Bryce.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael Catholic Community (800 – 85th Street SW, Calgary, AB) on Monday, June 17th, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the charity closest to Brent’s heart; the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta, 5757 4 Street SE, Calgary, Alberta T2H 1K8, www.kidscancercare.ab.ca

In living memory of Brent Chiswell, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, CALGARY, AB, T2E 2V6, Telephone: 403-243-8200.

  10. To all of Brent Chiswell’s family and friends. My deepest sympathies for your and our loss. I remember Brent to be the most enthusiastic and truest kid in our squad. Growing up with him during the “Parkdale” years, were really some of the best years for a lot of us, if we really think about it. Not that growing up, getting married, having children of our own isn’t the Greatest, but those years, were…. Special. I’ll cherish those times and memories. Love to his family ❤️.

  12. My deepest condolences to the Chiswell Family. I was one of Brent’s instructors when he joined the Canadian Ski Patrol and throughout his career with Calgary EMS. He treated me following a skiing collision at Canada Olympic Park in 2004. I think it was because he drew the shortest straw of the Calgary EMS medics that were there. He treated me well and entirely appropriately. I kidded him about it when we skied together one afternoon at Nakiska a while later. He had a big heart and was a credit to our mutual professions and volunteer activities. Brent will be missed!

  15. My deepest condolences to Judy and the Chiswell family. I was in shock when I heard of Brent’s passing. Your goofy laugh when you told a funny story, never really making it through the story, laughing all the time. Being known as the Kananaskis Viking, anyone sitting across from you during a meal will understand why.

Working with you, your skills spoke for themself. I have spoken about you with the fondest memories.

    Rest in Peace Brent

In March of 2010 we spent 19 days on a Grand Canyon rafting trip with Brent as our medical person. We will never forget seeing Brent going through Lava Falls in his kayak- upside down!
Thanks for being such a caring person Brent.
