    Dear Sandy, Riley and Blair,

We are so very sorry for the loss of your dear son and brother, Derek. Please know that you are in our thoughts and hearts.

What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch. We may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget. Author unknown.

Love to you all, Auntie Nancy and Uncle Joe

“Grief is the last act of love we have to give to those we loved. Where there is deep grief, there was great love.” ~Unknown
Words are difficult to find at times like this , but do know that their journey begins deep in my heart .
As a mother , I can’t phantom what you must be going through . Your boy is gone . There must be a human sized hole in the universe that you are living in . Be gentle with yourself.
Sandy , You will survive; You are resilient. You are loved .
Keeping you , and your family close in my thoughts.

    Dearest Sandy,

We are absolutely heartsick at the news of Derek’s passing. We both wish we were there to be able to be with you and give you the big hugs that we so want to give you. You are in our thoughts and our prayers.

During the precious times that we’ve been able to spend together we’ve seen the big loving Mama in you demonstrated. The way you were with Ceinon when we were all in Edmonton together for Doug’s birthday a few years back has always stayed with us. You loved on him something fierce and we’ve never forgotten that. Your son, Derek, was LOVED by you something fierce. What a gift you gave him as his mother. Your fierce mother’s love.

What a gift, too, you have lost in Derek’s passing. We are feeling the shock of that and of your loss so deeply for and with you.

Sandra, we LOVE you and send our prayers for you, for Derek, for Riley and for your family today and always. May God soothe your mother’s heart and wipe away your tears.

    Sending you so much love,

    Clare and Blain

    A Poem for Derek

    Words cannot completely tell,
the sadness we feel with you.
We have known him as well,
    since he was nearly two.

    Recall when he was small,
would run and play with ease.
His heart was big, as he grew tall,
    always tried to please.

    We spent our time together,
    then and some more now.
    Sadly couldn’t find his way,
though he wanted it and how.

    He loved you all,
He really did, never doubt of such.
    The world is hard,
    Some can’t take too much.

If only each one, had a book.
We wish they did, then we could look.

Why life is so, I cannot say,
    We bid farewell today.
A beautiful soul has flown away.

No shame no fear, Let’s be clear.
    We do our best,
    we all face the test.
    Now together we are here.

Know that we stand with you,
to help you through your grief.
    Our hearts need much mending,
While our time here may be brief.
    LOVE is never ending.

    Brad and Caroline Komishke

So sorry for the loss of Derek,
May the God of all comfort soothe your hearts and ease your pain as you go through this grievous time. May you find peace in knowing that God sees the tears you shed and sorrow you feel. He promises: “With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”(Rev 21:3,4). Acts 24:15 says “there is going to be a resurrection of the righteous and unrighteous.” May these beautiful Bible texts comfort your hearts at this very sad time.
