CAMERON, Alexander Gordon (Sandy)

June 3, 1923 – December 20, 2016

Sandy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 20, 2016.

Sandy was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on June 3, 1923. He enlisted in the Canadian Postal Corps in 1941; and served overseas in the United Kingdom and Western Europe. While stationed in Glasgow, Scotland he met Norma and they were married in 1944. After the war, Sandy returned to Saskatoon and attended The University of Saskatchewan, graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in 1949 and shortly after, moved to Calgary. He was employed for 37 years with Canadian Superior Oil Ltd.; retiring in 1986 as Treasurer. A year later he was appointed as a Citizenship Court Judge and served in that capacity until 1990. Sandy was a member of the Board of Governors of Mount Royal College for six years and also served as a Director of the Calgary United Way for a similar term and was a past Director of Alberta Blue Cross. He was a member of Branch 264 of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Calgary Petroleum Club and the Kiwanis Club of Calgary Foothills.

Sandy is survived by his son, Neil and his wife, Susan; daughter, Barbara and her husband, Derek McManus; four grandchildren, Christopher Cameron (Sharie), Cheryl Eversden (Will), Jason McManus (Sonia) and Paul McManus; five great-grandchildren, Jag Cameron, Olivia Eversden, Emelia Eversden, Amara McManus and Ruby McManus; he also leaves his sister, Barbara Robertson of Victoria, British Columbia and her daughter, Ann; niece, Pamela Cameron of Winnipeg, Manitoba and nephew, Bruce Cameron of Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Sandy was predeceased by his loving wife, Norma in 2012 and by his parents and brothers, Bruce and Douglas.

A private Celebration of Sandy’s Life has taken place. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
