BUTTERWORTH, Jean Winifred

March 27, 1930 – Frankby, England
September 7, 2018 – Cochrane, Alberta

Jean Butterworth of Cochrane, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018 at the age of 88 years.

Jean met her husband John in their teens and were married in June 1950. They had three children, Peter, Robert and Barbara. Jean was a homemaker until Barbara started school and then she went on to have various part-time jobs until her retirement in 1990. At the time of her retirement she was the manager of a local secondary school kitchen which provided the school dinners to many students including James Bond actor Daniel Craig. Jean and John lived on the Wirral in the north west of England until 2001 when they moved to Chelmsford, just outside London. From there they followed Barbara and her family to Canada and permanently settled in Cochrane, AB in 2010. They moved into Bethany Cochrane in 2015. In 2017 due to her Alzheimer’s, Jean moved into the secure unit where she soon became a much loved character for all who got to know her. She will be sadly missed by family, friends, Bethany staff and Bethany residents.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years, John; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Carol Butterworth; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Peter Sykes; and three grandchildren, Helen, Elizabeth, and Charlotte.

She is predeceased by her son, Peter Butterworth and Great Grandson Lucas Butterworth.

Service of Remembrance will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Cochrane, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB), on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Funeral Home.
