BURKE, Suzanne Gaye (nee Lehouillier)

September 22, 1953 – Edmonton, Alberta
April 8, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Suzanne Gaye Burke (nee Lehouillier), beloved wife of Michael Burke of Calgary, passed away on April 8, 2018 at the age of 64 years.

Suzanne was born on September 22, 1953 in Edmonton, AB, the first child born to Jules and Gaye Lehouillier. A few years after Suzanne was born, the family moved to Calgary where Suzanne was joined by four brothers and sisters. The family made their life in Calgary until Suzanne’s father got a job at the University of Lethbridge and they relocated. Suzanne completed her education in Lethbridge, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Lethbridge in 1989. During her time in Lethbridge, she was blessed with two daughters, Angela born in 1976 and Tracy in 1979. Suzanne moved to Calgary in 1997 where she married her best friend, Mike in 2000. Soon after, they bought a house in South Calgary, and worked tirelessly to make that house a home by renovating inside and out. Suzanne will always be known for her love of gardening, and created many beautiful oases in their backyard. When she wasn’t gardening or making jewelry, you could find Suzanne and Mike on the road hauling their trailer to various campgrounds in Alberta and British Columbia, finding their ‘spot’ at Sandy McNabb. Suzanne loved spending time with family and friends. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Besides her loving husband, Michael, Suzanne is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Angela Turner and Tracy Sewell (Jaylin); her stepchildren, Samantha Burke (Kerry), Christopher Burke, and Cassandra Burke; brother Patrick Lehouillier (Deann); sisters, Danielle Gruninger (Richard), and Jacqueline Berglund (Donald); four grandchildren, Dakota, Chloe, Jace and Ryan; as well as her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Jules Lehouillier, her mother Gaye Lehouillier, and her brother Richard Lehouillier.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Suzanne Burke, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB, T2X 3J3, Telephone: 403-256-9575.

    Anne / co-worker
I worked with Suzanne. Even though I am a virtual employee and did not see Suzanne every day, she touched my life and was a special person. She was always willing to help out no matter what the circumstances. I enjoyed chatting with her at the office functions I attended and Christmas parties. She will be missed.

My Heart goes out to Suzanne’s family at this time. Suzanne was a co-worker of mine for a few years and we always were joking around with each other. I have been missing her terribly, she was a joy to work with and had a great sense of humour. God be with you as you go through the sadness of losing such a wonderful and kind person in your life.

So sorry Mike my condolences to you and your family.

God called your name so gently, that only you could hear.
No one heard the footsteps of the Angel drawing near…
Softly from the shawdows, there came gentle call, you closed your eyes and went to sleep…
    And quietly left of all.

    Love,
    Connie
