BUCSIS, Dorothy Emma

Mar 14, 1922 – Rocky Mountain House, Alberta
May 24, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our unique and beloved “Dodo”: mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt, friend and confidante. Always a redhead, Dorothy was the epitome of grace and style, framed by a gentle demeanor, compassion, kindness, and laughter.

Dorothy was born near Rocky Mountain House to Swedish immigrants, a heritage she proudly wore. She converted to Catholicism at the age of 16 in Regina and was very fond of that. As a young woman she ventured to Calgary, studying office administration and eventually working at the Holy Cross Hospital. She was happiest raising her family, creating a welcoming home and being involved with the community and her many friends. She was never rushed and had amazing stamina, which was often demonstrated by her ability to spend several hours in any store while on shopping excursions across the border. Always a prairie girl at heart, she loves birds and diligently looked for the arrival of Robin’s each spring. It is now time for her to fly away and we bid her Godspeed until we meet again.

Dorothy will be deeply missed by her family, Charlotte (John) White, Blanche (John) Crerar, Marilyn (Ron) McIntosh, and Ross (Anita) Bucsis; grandchildren, Ryan (Krista), Heather (Andrew|), Garrick (Tammy), Graham, Lindsey, and Anastasia; and great-grandchildren, Jackson, Brooklyn, Aurora, Star, Tennyson, Mila and Zara. She is predeceased by her loving husband Vince.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Monday, May 28, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Church. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Dorothy Bucsis, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Park Memorial, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Calgary, AB, T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.
