Happy memories of quality time spent together at Wasa Lake, camping and fishing in the East and West Kootenays, and her welcoming us into her home on our visits to Calgary. Joan was a terrific sister-in-law and we shared many happy times together over the years. She will leave a void in our lives.

Condolence from Glenn Arnold on October 14th, 2018 7:31 AM

Joan was an ever present stabilizing force within the B District later 4 District office, Calgary Police Force later Service ,She literally ran the entire front end from her desk with ease and confidence that could calm down a minister. She had a rare talent in dealing with people always tempering herself to the situation and individual. Joan was more of an acquaintance at work but her professionalism made her stand out from the rest.

I am very sad to learn of Joan’s passing. She worked for me when I was the Inspector in charge of E District (now 1 District) Joan was friendly, pleasant and an excellent secretary and nothing was too much trouble when I gave her rush jobs. Please accept my condolences, I am sure she will be missed by all who knew her.

Condolence from Jim and Donna Bergen on October 14th, 2018 11:49 AM

I just want to echo the words of Glenn Arnold. Joan was one of those dedicated civilian employees of the Police Service who ensured that the “behind the scenes” work got done. Donna and I became friends with Joan and Chic during our time in B District and attended many a district party together.
Our deepest condolences to Chic and his family

Condolence from Gerry Borbridge on October 14th, 2018 10:09 PM

Joan was one of very few civilian staff who I was fortunate to have work with me in District One . Chic and family it is important that know that her work was exemplary. Organized , intuitive and always able to make sure things were done. I have told many people that Joan and her compadre Rene made my job easy in managing the District. Truly a fine person and as a close neighbor my heart goes out to Chic and all the family.

Condolence from Sgt. John A. Barich (retired) on October 15th, 2018 10:06 AM

I am very sad to here of the passing of Joan Brown as she was a pleasure to work with in 4-District. She was very knowledgeable and efficient in the workings of the Police department and always seemed to have the correct solution to any problem. Joan displayed her humanity on many occasions while working in a sometimes high stress position. God bless you Joan and may the Lord comfort your family in their time of sorrow.

Condolence from Debbie McKinney on October 15th, 2018 8:53 PM

Chic and Family,
Our thoughts go out to you. I had the pleasure of working with Joan for many years in District One. She always had a twinkle in her eye when she talked about her children and grandchildren. Joan was an enthusiastic Stamps fan, and if I remember correctly, she was a pretty good gamer. LOL

There is a very special star overlooking your family.

Warm Regards,
Debbie and Mike McKinney

Condolence from Joe Hautzinger on October 17th, 2018 11:28 AM

JB worked at 4 District while I was the Staff Sgt. She worked for me, I curled for her. Aside from the fact that she was a wonderful employee, she was a great personality. Every staff member loved and respected her. Our Lord will love her now.
