BOWLING, James Walter

It is with overwhelming and profound sadness that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Walter Bowling at the age of 86 years.

Our treasured husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend will be forever missed by his wife of 63 wonderful years, Colleen; his children, Cheryl (Sam) Wertman, Jeff (Andrea) Bowling and Alison Bowling as well as his son-in-law Richard Heerink. He will also be lovingly remembered by his six grandchildren, Debra Wertman (Todd Lambeth), Jaime Wertman (Justin Stewart), Stephan Heerink, Mikael Heerink, Hayley Bowling and Jillian Bowling. He will also be greatly missed by his sister Barbara (David) Ferguson. Jim was loved by numerous nephews, nieces, and his many wonderful long-time friends.

Jim was predeceased by his cherished daughter Diane Heerink in 2007; and his sisters, Beth Brennen in 1971 and Dorothy Perrault in 2018.

There is so much that can be said about this man as he was the ultimate example of selflessness and putting others interests before his own. He was a role model, saviour, rock, confidante, coach, best friend and tremendous supporter. The family is extremely fortunate to have had this marvellous man in their lives and believe the world would be a much more compassionate, respectful and peaceful place with more people like Jim Bowling in it.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Earl Grey Golf Club (6540 20th Street SW Calgary) on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

The family would sincerely like to thank the doctors, nurses (Unit 42) and the palliative and geriatric care teams at the Peter Lougheed Centre for their compassionate care.

If so desired, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Canada (2323 Yonge Street, Suite 800, Toronto, ON M4P 2C9) www.cysticfibrosis.ca

Condolence Messages

  1. Elana Fleischmann :

Dear Cheryl, Sam, Debra and Jaimie, (and the rest of the family)
Please accept our sincere condolences in memory of your dear dad. As next door neighbours, we had an opportunity to meet your dad when your parents came to visit. I remember how charming and kind he was. He reminded me a bit of Dov – he was tall and very handsome!!! What an absolute treasure to grow up with such an amazing dad. Love, Elana, Neal and Jillian

Mr. Bowling was ALWAYS one of my favourite people. And I cannot agree more with the statement “… the world would be a much more compassionate, respectful and peaceful place with more people like Jim Bowling in it.”

Mr. Bowling left a wonderful legacy in the form of his family. He will be sorely missed by all but each of his family carries so many of his wonderful traits that he will remain in our hearts and minds.

My love and condolences to all of the Bowling family.

Love Scott Elsey, on behalf of all of my family, especially Matina, Stephanie and Jamie
