BOUWSEMA, Lammert (Len) Jacob

October 7, 1930 – Emmen, Netherlands
April 17, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta

After a short illness our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather went to be with his Lord and Saviour.

Lammert was the beloved husband of Maria for sixty years, which we thankfully celebrated with the entire family last month. His four children have been blessed to call him “Pa”: Betty Bouwsema, Cor (Joanne) Bouwsema, Peter (Lorraine) Bouwsema and Sharon (Arnold) Zwart. He was also dearly loved by his ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Pa was a gifted craftsman owning his cabinet making business, Bouwsema Woodwork, from 1968-1995. In his retirement he continued to use his skills to volunteer with World Renew Disaster Relief Services, putting his faith in action as a volunteer. He was also an artist with wood, his family and friends continue to enjoy his many amazing carvings. Pa was a blessing to many and will be remembered in our hearts as a strong man of faith and integrity.

Memorial Services will be held at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church (2111 52 Street N.W.) on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. A Private Graveside Service was held at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be forwarded through In lieu of flowers, the family suggest a donation to World Renew. His family would like to thank the wonderful nursing staff on Unit 36 at the Foothills Medical Centre that gave him and his family such compassionate care.

In living memory of Lammert Bouwsema, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, Telephone: 403-276-2296.
