Rex Gordon Bishop, beloved husband of Linda of Calgary, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018 at the age of 70 years.
Rex was the owner and operator of Raebann Electric for over thirty-five years. Rex was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. He loved the Toronto Blue Jays, and was a season ticket holder for the Calgary Flames since their inception. He volunteered for many committees in Calgary, including the 1988 Winter Olympics, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation – holding many different positions including president. He had been a long-time member of Ducks Unlimited. He coached local teams in minor baseball, including the Continental West Little League, taking them to an all-Canada Championship in Victoria, BC.
Besides his loving wife and caregiver, Linda, Rex is survived by his two sons, Darcy (Erin) Bishop of Okotoks, AB and Kimball Bishop of Calgary, AB; left to mourn are five grandchildren, Graydon, Gabriella, Gavin, Fischer and McKinley Bishop. Rex is also survived by his four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Lynn and Stacy of Glenwood, AB, Mark of Calgary, AB, Dr. Don Bishop of Calgary, AB and Kevin and Corilee of Gilbert, AZ; his first wife, Barbara; his stepmother Florence; his brother-in-law Glen of Clinton, UT; and many nieces and nephews. Rex was predeceased by his father Alma (Ike) Bishop of Medicine Hat, AB (2017); mother Vila Bishop of Calgary, AB (2017); his beloved sister Colleen Ross of Clinton, UT (2011); and his best friend and cousin, David Hofer of Spring Coulee, AB (2008).
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home.
